Sour Tears

What religion is this?

Lately I have put a lot of thought into the beliefs that we all have or don’t have.  Every day I see so many people trying to “convert” others to their “religion” or the label they put on their beliefs.  I will not say what belief system I associate myself with, instead I will list the following 10 basic beliefs that I have and see if you can guess….

1. Show compassion towards others.

2. Show respect towards others.

3. Do not lie.  Tell the truth even if it will have negative consequences.

4. Help others when you are able to.

5. Give back to the community and to those that have less than you do.

6. Do not cheat. Be true to your friends, your family, and your partner.

7. Do not steal. Earn what you get, and don’t take something that doesn’t belong to you.

8. Do not judge.

9.  Keep a positive attitude and always show gratitude for the kindness you receive from others.

10. Respect and love yourself in a healthy non self-centered way.

Tell me, what religion do you think I follow?  Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Atheist, Buddhism?  By reading the above beliefs I bet it is hard to tell.  I don’t think there are too many people alive today that would disagree with these beliefs.  My point is we all want to live a life that includes all these things,  we can all agree on the basics of right and wrong, we all want to see peace and see everyone get along. We just can’t seem to agree on the best or “right” path to get there.  We get too hung up on putting a label on “goodness” and trying to fit into one mold or another. So I ask you again what belief system did I describe above?

There are two kinds of love…in the safe kind you look for someone who’s exactly like you. It’s what most folks settle for. But then there’s the other kind of love. Everyone’s born with a ragged edge, and some folks crave that piece that’s a perfect fit. You’ll search for it forever, if you have to. And if you’re lucky enough to find it, it looks so right, you start to tear at your own seams, thinking, maybe I could look just as perfect. But then, of course, when you try to get close to their other half, you don’t fit anymore. That kind of love…you come out of it a different person than you were when you started.

Love is the most dangerous craving of all, if you ask me. It turns us into people we aren’t. It makes us feel like hell, and makes us walk on water. It ruins us for anything else.

A story about you, me and everyone else.

dreamybri:

“There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. In the end, Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.”

Moral of the story: EVERYBODY, SOMEBODY, ANYBODY, DO SOMETHING!!!!! otherwise NOBODY will…….
